One of the six (sa) tīrthyas, or brahminical heretics, given to extravagant austerities; his doctrine was that the happiness of the next life is correlative to the sufferings of this life.* * *梵語阿耆多翅舍, 字也。 梵語欽婆羅, 麤衣名, 因以為名也。 其人起邪見, 非因計因, 著麤弊衣, 自拔其髮, 以煙熏鼻, 及五熱炙身, 修諸苦行為道。 自謂今身併受諸苦, 則後身常得樂也。 (非因計因者, 本非得樂之因, 而妄計此因能得樂也。 五熱者, 四面火聚, 更加頭上有日, 故云五熱炙身。 )
